This is probably a “must visit” place if you are traveling with kids to the Riviera Maya. You can rarely interact with other museums the way you can at the 3D Museum of Wonders in Playa del Carmen. The 3D paintings give the optical illusion that you are part of them. The one-of-a-kind 3D Museum of Wonders is located right in the heart of Playa del Carmen. Is located on 10th Avenue between 8th and 10th streets in Playa del Carmen, and open its doors from 9:00am to 10:00pm.

CEDAM Museum

Cedam Puerto Aventuras

It is a small but interesting museum that features sub-acuatic art pieces found through the years at the Puerto Aventuras Marine. The items found underwater are well preserved and remain in big crystal boxes. The Cedam Museum is located in the main plaza of Puerto Aventuras Marine and it opens from 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday. There is no entrance fee but a donation is recommended to support the maintenance of this museum and protection of the local heritage it contains.

Casa De Los Venados

Featuring one of the greatest collections of local and authentic handcraft in Mexico. This folk art museum has different rooms, each one with its own style. The art pieces made by different artists represent Mexico´s history and traditions. Casa De Los Venados museum is also the host for cultural and musical events, both; private and public. The place is located on 40th street and 41, #204 in Valladolid Yucatan. Opened from 9:00am to 10:00pm and tours are provided at 10:00am.

One of the most emblematic museums in Cozumel with incredible pieces painted on bird feathers. The incredibly detailed art pieces have been created by Yucatecan artists, and are preserved in crystal boxes. Balam Art On Feathers museum is located on 5th Avenue, between Benito Juarez and 2nd Street in Cozumel, Quintana Roo. And it is open daily from 10:00am to 9:00pm.


MUSA In Cancun

Probably the most interesting and unique of all the Museums in Riviera Maya. If you already love diving or snorkeling, you will absolutely love this museum because it is underwater! This museum is one of a kind because in order to admire the sculptures you have to snorkel or dive in the ocean. There are over 500 sculptures that also help with the preservation of coral life. MUSA museum is located in the waters between Cancun and Isla Mujeres and it can be visited through snorkeling, diving or in a crystal bottom boat that departs from Cancun port.
