Who doesn’t want the perfect vacation day in the Riviera Maya! Planning the perfect day when you feel like a fish out of water in a new area is challenging. Whether you are staying in Puerto Morelos or somewhere on the coast of the Riviera Maya, use these local tips and insights to have the perfect day. Check out A Perfect Day in Puerto Morelos!
Our perfect day in Puerto Morelos takes us to the jungle, ocean, cenotes and great restaurants as we spend the day in this little but vibrant fishing village just 20 minutes south of Cancun, 20 minutes north of Playa del Carmen, and just an hour from Tulum.
We start our day at Al Nicho for coffee and a light breakfast overlooking the main square while we sneak a peek at the Puerto Morelos lighthouse. Locals love the coffee here and we agree! IF anything you might meet other travelers or even a local who have more tips for other Perfect Days in the Riviera Maya.
A Wetset snorkel tour would be next at 9 am (booked in advance). Their local guide takes us into the National Marine Park by boat and we cruise around the Mexican Caribbean looking for turtles, fish and eagle rays.
Next it is off to the beach to chill and relax at Ojo de Agua. Maybe a snack, maybe not.
Off to the Cenote Route, located just off HWY 307 south of Puerto Morelos for a quick dip in fresh water. Our favorite cenote is Siete Bocas (7 mouths) but there a few locations to choose from. After swimming and exploring, we head back to the town center and venture to the cooking shop at the Little Mexican Cooking School. Mexican chocolate, salsas and more await our kitchen!
It is back to the beach at Pelicanos for an early evening margarita overlooking the ocean, a quick change out of our bathing suits and a long gaze over the Caribbeean. Pelicanos is a long time favorite for any meal, but we love chilling out at the end of the day over the sea.
We are off to John Grays Kitchen for an early dinner. More margaritas follow with some great Mexican Fusion food from this local Chef who is known up and down the coast for his inspiring and delicious creations. At this point we call it a day, the perfect day, in Puerto Morelos that had us going from ocean to beach, jungle to city center and topping off the perfect day with a perfect meal. We have known Kohn for a long time and never ever has he dissappointed us! There are always great surprises and a revolving menu at this long standing, well known restaurant.
So that Folks is our perfect day in Puerto Morelos! LIke all perfect days there are more things to do and more perfect days to be had, but for a first Perfect Day in Puerto Morelos this rocks!
