Walking the famous La Quinta Avenue (5th Avenue) in Playa del Carmen can make decision making even harder than it already is. There are so many dining options to choose from and they all look so good. La Quinta is growing and the choices are always changing so it is always nice to have an idea where to go before you go. This is why I want to share with you Di Vino Restaurante Italiano.
One of the most popular hobbies to do on La Quinta is to people watch. Di Vino makes that easy being located on the corner right in from of a new shopping plaza. Even though it is gourmet and elegant, you can feel comfortable sitting down to have a meal there right from the beach or dressed up for a night on the town. Sit in the open air restaurant or right along La Quinta at their outside tables to be closer to the action.
Their service will make you feel very important. We were blessed to have Felipe as our waiter. He was not just doing his job but enjoying it! He came promptly with a smile and even felt comfortable enough with us to joke around. We got our drinks immediately with our menus which was great just coming off of a long walk. The menu was quite impressive and we perused that while diving into the wonderful bread and breadsticks with oil and vinegar.
I can only vouch for the three cheese tortellini but WOW! It is a dish I order often in various places but this beat all of them. Conversation stopped at the table while we dove into our incredible meals. We enjoyed these with our red wine that Felipe was sure never went too low.
A nice touch was that the manager, Enrique, came by to say hi and to make sure we were enjoying everything. It is a small gesture, but knowing that managers are very busy, it does mean something.
Di Vino is located at La Quinta and Calle 12 on the western side. Their hours are Sunday through Thursday 12 pm to 1 am, and Friday and Saturday 12 pm to 2 am. Be sure to tell Felipe hello for me!
