The Perfect Rainy Day In Riviera Maya

If you are one of the people who hates rainy days during holidays, this blog post is perfect for you. One of the advantages of Riviera Maya is precisely the weather. In other countries rainy days are cold and hardly enjoyable but here that´s not the case. Even though the tours might vary according the season, there are still plenty of activities to do when it´s raining.

This time we would like to mention the best options for you to enjoy your holidays, during a rainy season. Some of the places are actually unknown by tourists since are located in non-touristy areas. However they are perfect for families traveling with kids or teenagers and might turn your grey days into perfectly enjoyable vacations.

3D Museum

We bet you didn´t even know there was a 3D Museum and located right in the heart of Riviera Maya! This place is open every day of the week with the exception of Sundays. Inside you can enjoy of actual master pieces that give the illusion that you are part of them. There is also a small cinema inside with presentations on how the magic is created. The 3D Wonders Museum is open from 9:00am until 10:00pm and the approximate rate is 25usd per person.

This activity is perfect for Art lovers and would be the best option for families with kids since they are allowed to play around. The 3D Museum of Wonders is located on 10th Avenue between 8th and 10th street, in Playa del Carmen city.

Planetarium

When it comes to family activities that are a hit for kids, we cannot forget about Playa del Carmen Planetarium. Sayab Planetarium is full of options for kids; with workshops, projections, mind games and special moon nights on the terrace, this place is basically designed for the little ones. They also organize conferences and if you are into environment you will love the topics they cover.

On June 11th Sayab Planetarium will have a major festival and all families are invited. Among other things, there will be a market with local food and products, live music, exchange of food and clothes, workshops and games. The entrance to the festival is free and the whole thing will start at 3:00pm. For kids over 10 years old there is also a great opportunity to be part of the live solar clock. The event will take place on June 12th at noon and it is limited to 12 kids only. You can sign up with 5usd per kid, at the Planetarium entrance the same morning.

Theater

Playa del Carmen Theater

Of course the list of options will not be complete without including the famous Playa del Carmen Theater. Located only 5 minutes away from the city, this place has become the favorite for artists and art lovers. They often organize live shows, musicals and all kinds of professional performances. This next Sunday (June 12th) they will be offering an incredible live show named Fantasía. The show will be performed by Danza Orígenes Company and Alebrijes Group, both integrated by local talent.

Fantasía show on June 12th will start at 7:00pm and the best part is that the entrance is FREE! Everyone is invited, the free tickets will be given at the entrance of the theater starting at noon on the same day.

As an extra tip, we also recommend you to visit Le Lotus Rouge which is a magical place with incredible activities and theme parties changing every night. Live music, karaoke nights, art gallery, restaurant, bar and crazy parties, all happening in the same incredible place. Le Lotus Rouge is located in Playa del Carmen town on 35th avenue and 2nd street. On June 11th they will be throwing a special Latin party with a local band named Nacion Latina. There will also be a circus tent and many more surprises.
