Mexican New Years Eve Traditions – How To Travel More!

What a great moment to be alive! We somehow managed to make it to the end of 2015 and accomplished some serious traveling. If you are reading this post and you happen to be among the lucky ones who are enjoying the holidays in Riviera Maya, with no doubt 2016 will be starting on the right foot.

Is a blessing to have your feet buried in the warm white sand of the Mexican Caribbean instead of having them buried in the cold snow. The beauty of life is that you can always choose where you end or start a new year.

A BIG New Year’s Thank You to Our Loco Gringo Friends

We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you. Yes, you, the reader, the traveler and our friend. You have been giving us your trust and the incredible opportunity to share our experience and local advice. You are the one creating a long line of beautiful moments for the entire Loco Gringo team.

Do not think for a second your friendship and faith in us is not appreciated. We are thankful for being part of every adventure you decide to take, for letting us take you to new places and for sharing in our favorite regular spots. Without a doubt this has been a great year because of you.

And before we both start to tear up we want to end 2015 by sharing a great tradition that happens in most of the Mexican homes on New Year’s. This tradition fuels everyone’s love for travel, discovery, and adventure!

The Mexican New Year’s Luggage Tradition

The tradition goes like this. Before the twelve strokes of midnight you have to place at least one travel bag (backpack, piece of luggage, carry on) outside your front door. After your midnight toast, the hugging and grape eating (12 grapes are another Mexican New Year’s Tradition) it is time to go outside and carry your luggage around the block. This will guarantee you will have more trips during the entire year. The further you go, the better your chances for traveling will be.

While you walk, think about where you want to travel, how you want to travel and when you want to travel. This process will program your mind for you travel adventures. What you believe you create. What you imagine you attract.

We really hope you had an amazing 2015 and we wish you an even better 2016. Remember we will always be here for you, waiting for that green light to design the Mexican holiday you deserve.

Cheers to new and amazing adventures for you, or as we say in Mexico: Salud!
