Ch’arki Jerky Fascinates Foodies in Playa del Carmen Mexico

Ch'arki jerky in Playa del Carmen made by Sara Moen

Gourmet beef jerky has always been a popular snack in the United States and Canada, but has yet to be introduced to Mexico until now.

Sara Kristin Moen, a year round resident in Playa del Carmen since 2002, is the genius foodie behind bringing Ch’arki Jerky to Playa del Carmen and the surrounding areas. Her love for great food, exercise, health and nutrition took this product from idea to reality in 2015.

Why Is Beef Jerky So Popular?

Beef jerky became more popular recently with the Paleo diet craze. jerky is very high in protein, low in fat, and great to take on the go. Because of its high protein content and low fat qualities it has become very popular with people who are in training, especially with the Crossfit crew.

Jerky also gives you a good dose of zinc and iron. It is perfect for the active person on the go or those looking for an easy, healthy snack.

The Significance of Ch’arki’s Presence in Playa

Playa del Carmen is the home of many expats and is the focal point of tourism. Jerky is a favorite in many parts of the world, especially in the United States. Whether you live here or are visiting, it is always a treat to find something from ¨home¨. Ch’arki is also becoming popular with nationals who do not have a product like this in their culture.

Why is Ch’arki Jerky Different?

This isn’t your convenience story jerky. Ch’arki is handcrafted with original recipes developed by Sara. She only uses high quality Canadian beef that she has sourced locally. There are three different flavors available; original, peppered and chile/sesame. Her forth flavor is in development and will be released soon!
