Chanolandia Waterpark – Fun, Local And Kid Friendly

Chanolandia

There are many places in Riviera Maya that are great activities for your family, but not many of them offer a 100% local experience for travelers. We just visited a magical place in the middle of the jungle that we loved. To make this experience oh so better, we found it not to be crowded. This water park was super fun and the only reason we can think of that make it less popular than other theme and water parks is that it has not been discovered yet. We spent the entire day there and collect all the juicy details for you and your family.

The water park is heaven for kids and a relaxing place for the parents. This is the cheapest water park in the Riviera Maya, service is friendly, there are good food options and the park is close to Playa del Carmen. If you are looking for a local experience, a place to spend with your kids or maybe make some new friends, Chanolandia is definitely the best choice.

Food And Beverage Options at Chanolandia

Restaurant

There are three food options in the park, snacks, a full service restaurant (alcohol as well!) or BBQ and picnic areas where you bring your own food!

As soon as you enter the park, you will enter the reception area that has many snack options. They have cookies, nuts and candies, just to name a few. The restaurant is located in the middle of the pool area, a short walk from the entrance. The menu might not be extensive but it offers great Mexican meals and options for kids; Burgers, quesadillas, guacamole, fries, salads and nachos. The drinks offered are; sodas, water, juices, beer and cocktails. They have special promotions like “happy hour” and the rates are just amazing. For meals and drinks you can expect to pay around $10.00 usd per person. If you have brought your own food, rent one of the BBQ grills in the park. This is a great way to go when you are with a large group of people.

Facilities in the Water Park

The rest of the facilities are good. The restaurant has plastic tables, enough to feed about 50 people at the same time. Separate from the restaurant you will find little concrete tables everywhere that are designed for families that bring their own food. There is a speaker that plays Mexican music all day long and the bathrooms are separate for men/ladies, with showers and are always very clean. The place is so big it even has Mayan Ruins (copies of Chichen Itza buildings) and a small chapel that can be rented for weddings or other ceremonies. There is a small bridge you can cross, palapas for shade, beach chairs and a small cenote that is not for swimming.

Pools And Slides at Playa Del Carmen’s Local Water Park

Slides

In total they have 6 pools, two main ones with 6 slides in each pool. Two more pools are located by the restaurant, one by the entrance and another one that looks more like a cenote. Most of the pools are for kids (not very deep) but they just finished one that is about 6.5 ft. deep, that is geared to adults.  The rest of the pools are 1.5 to 2.6 ft. deep.

The slides have fun figures on the top; sharks, crocodiles and dolphins. None of the slides are higher than 2.5 ft and there is a lifeguard on duty at all times. By the pools you will find umbrellas, beach chairs for relaxing and little tables to put your drinks while you watch the kids having fun.
