Best Options To An Eco-Friendly Vacation In Riviera Maya

Punta Laguna Monkey

Preserving and protecting the environment now is not just a matter of locals but also travelers. Many tourists are now joining different activities and choosing tours that respect nature in the area. Riviera Maya offers great options for entertainment and relaxation that are eco-friendly and just as good as the rest.

One of the perks of visiting Riviera Maya is the opportunity of traveling to a destination with unique natural beauty. Since the moment you arrive to the very last day of your vacation there are endless options for families who are looking for a real interaction with Mother Nature. The ecotourism is one of the most important economic activities in this area and we are excited to share the best options with our travelers.

Eco Parks And Sian Kaan

Sian Kaan reserve

Aktun Chen park is one of our favorite options to practice eco-tourism, it´s perfect for families with kids for including interaction with animals. This park has a serpentarium, spider monkeys, deers, wild pigs and a beautiful cenote where you can swim side by side with cat fish of all sizes. There are other activities like zip lines but without any doubt the main attraction is the animals hanging around in their natural habitat.

Sian Ka´an Reserve has its own unique beauty, a wide and exotic selection of birds, plants and other animals plus the gorgeous natural surroundings, trees and crystal clear waters of the lagoon. You can discover this place by boat and using ATV´s, there are English speaking guides available at all times.

Free Animals Vs Caged Animals

There are many activities that you can choose over the typical touristy attractions and make a huge difference in your vacation. You will probably see the famous fish spas on 5th Avenue but very few people know that this activity can be free when you access to one of the many cenotes in the area. The difference is that after you get your fish spa, the fish remain free.

Another example is the swimming with the dolphins activity, there are other seasonal tours where you can swim with whale sharks, sting rays and other fish in their natural habitat. Holbox and Isla Mujeres islands are perfect for these activities and the trips are available at affordable cost.

Swimming With Turtles And Spider Monkey Sanctuary

Akumal Turtle

Akumal is best known for being the land of the turtles. Visitors can be guaranteed that when they swim at the ocean they will be meeting turtles for sure. You don´t have to purchase a guided tour, you can simply rent snorkel equipment or buy it and swim a few meters deep until you encounter these beautiful animals. Akumal beach clear water is perfect for this activity, you can find sting rays and plenty of fish as well.

And when the regular interaction is not enough, you can always visit The Jungle Place , the spider monkey sanctuary near Tulum. The monkeys living in this place were victims of pet trade or habitat destruction and are in need of special care since they can no longer survive by themselves. The Jungle Place provides all medical attention, food and shelter to the monkeys with the help of generous donations. You can donate a minimum of $80.00usd to help spider monkeys and you will have access to the sanctuary and interact with them.

If you are looking forward to try any of the options we have mentioned above, simply e-mail your [email protected] who will be eager to provide all necessary information to an eco-friendly vacation for you and your family.
