Ixtlan Cenote-Jungle Vibes For Privacy Lovers

Stupa Ixtlan

Cenotes are very popular in Riviera Maya. It is a fact that if you would visit a cenote each day, it would take you 5 years to see them all. Of course they are not the same, some of them are covered and other open. Some are greater than others but each one of them has something mystical. No wonder why Mayans used to visit them for spiritual and religious purposes. We as locals are not finished seeing them all, but we sure try to find out the best ones. And the reason is not only to enjoy the area but also to give you the best details and guarantee an amazing holiday. This time we have found a newly opened cenote that keeps people talking. Cenote Ixtlan should definitely be on your top list of cenotes, when you travel to the Riviera Maya.

A Different Cenote

Being in a touristic destination and looking for privacy might be challenging, this is why Cenote Ixtlan offers what other cenotes can´t. The quiet cenote is set in the middle of a private area, away from the noise and crowds. Once you step into the jungle it is like stepping into a different world away from the civilization. There is a cavern hidden deep into the jungle where you hear nothing but the noises of mother nature. The main cenote has this crystal clear water that stays still and reflects everything like a mirror. The place is often used as a meditation center. You can imagine how calm and quiet the vibe is at this place. The service is also one of the best, the staff literally take care of every detail to make you and your party feel pampered. Actually if you decide to organize a private diving, the guys are the best instructors. This cenote happens to be also the longest single entrance for a cenote in the world!

More Than Just Snorkeling

At the majority of cenotes there is only one activity; snorkeling. But Cenote Ixtlan offers different activities that can be shared with family and friends. The staff is very experienced and can guide you through the jungle with closed eyes (but they won´t, no worries). An optional ride on UTV vehicle (up to 3 people) is offered if you want to increase the sense of adventure. Try the Temazcal for a more purifying visit. A dry cavern hidden inside the jungle with beautiful bats and magnificent stalactites. And don´t forget that the whole place is designed for spiritual and meditation retreats. You can easily rent the entire place for a private event. Just purchase the entrance to see the cenote and snorkel in it or add the jungle hike and UTV ride for a more complete visit. The lunch is also offered in different versions; grill burgers, traditional cochinita pibil tacos, Mediterranean food or even lobster, you name it. And the menu can accommodate vegetarians, vegans, gluten free, etc.

Plan Your Visit To Ixtlan Cenote

You are probably wondering where this extraordinary cenote is located. Turns out it is in Chemuyil area but way too far from the entrance to this little town. To find it is necessary to have a guide who takes you there. The public access is not allowed, only visitors with previous reservations. If you send us a e-mail to: [email protected] we will happily provide you with rates and make a reservation on your behalf. Transportation can be included in the rate or not. You can practically design your visit and the activities you want to do. The usual day program lasts no more than 4 hours but trust us, you will not want to leave this magical place. We recommend you to book your visit to Cenote Ixtlan with enough time in advance. As it is one of the top cenotes in the area (if not the best) it gets easily booked.
