Crococun Zoo for Kids

Pairing a family vacation with education is always a winner! Crococun Zoo can help you with that in a fun and exciting way. Named for the star creature in their habitat, the crocodile, Crococun isn’t just about one creature but many. The interactive experience will give you a break from the beach and add spice to your vacation. Kids will love it for the adventure through the jungle and will learn about animals local to the Riviera Maya.

What You Will Find at Crococun Zoo

Crococun isn’t just about crocodiles. You will find a variety of species as you tour their grounds, which used to be a crocodile farm. The 60-75 minute guided tour will allow you to interact with snakes, deer, macaws, parrots, and, of course, crocodiles! You can even go monkey around a bit with the spider monkeys that will be goading you on from above in the trees. You will also be able to hold a boa constrictor, feed the spider monkeys, pet a hairless Mayan dog (called a Xoloitzcuintli) or walk safely through a den of baby crocodiles. Kids, and adults too, will enjoy meeting up with more than 400 animals from 40 different species. The featured animals are native to the local jungle, and many are endangered species unique to Quintana Roo.

Crococun farm has taken on the responsibility to be a zoological park to protect indigenous endangered species.

When and Where to Go

Crococun is open everyday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission for adults is $30us, for children 6-12 years old $20us and under 6 are free. Senior citizens have a discounted rate of $18us. The tours have no set starting times since they occur continuously throughout the day. It is always a good idea to bring plenty of water with you, as it gets hot and humid in the jungle. After the tour, you can rest and grab a bite in their restaurant. Crococun Zoo is located 19 miles from Cancun on the main highway 307 between Cancun and Playa del Carmen just a few kilometers north of Puerto Morelos.

She is particularly good at finding family activities and healthy food options that take you off the beaten path and into local neighborhoods. Her passion lies within the arts community whether it be painters, musicians or dancers.
